Rotopex is dedicated
to the study and enjoyment of postcards produced by the Rotograph
Postcard Company. Located in New York City, 684 Broadway, with offices at 215 Wabash Avenue in Chicago as well, this company published as
many as 60,000 cards. Subjects ranged from scenic views of cities &
towns to real photo portraits, to stylized greetings, to art reproductions,
to comics.
Rotograph issued numerous cards which might be catalogued according to the usual
topics: ships, trains, lighthouses, bridges, actors, large letters, and so on,
but because of the sequential numbering and use of prefixes and suffixes, it is possible to think of accumulating a checklist of
their work. Doing so will be one of the purposes of this page.
It will provide a place for collectors and other interested parties to compare
notes.

In this way, the site may be a forum to exchange
information about what we know or do not know, to correct each other, and to
build on experience. In fact, I am emphasizing here, as I have done
elsewhere, that this page represents the work of many hobbyists and researchers
besides me. Keith Howard, for instance, is the person who found and
purchased the example of Rotograph letterhead which is copied above.
Thanks, Keith.
