| For a long time I had only descriptions of this type. Recently I have acquired two on ebay, shown below. As Faulkner indicated, these are glossy real photos, processed on bromide paper. Though greetings, they also carry insets with typical views. From the few examples on hand, we may surmise that 'X' signifies a Christmas greeting. Faulkner describes these as sepia, which would account for the 'S,' though 447 is clearly black & white. Both the portrait and the view are excellent photographic art. |

cards which are NOT Real Photo carry an 'S' designation, like A 204,
Library of Congress, Washington, DC, below. This is still a mystery.
